Dreams and Discoveries
Dreaming and discovering use different kinds of thinking, yet both begin with a willingness to ask “What if?” This unit follows an idea from imaginative spark to testable claim. You will distinguish a narrator’s enthusiasm from reliable evidence, trace causes and consequences in an invention story, and read poetic images without flattening them into literal statements. You will also use route language, spatial viewpoint, modal verbs, tense control, and explanatory structure. Original practice texts include a story about a neighbourhood shade experiment and a poem that sends questions downstream. They invite you to compare wonder with proof, write a clear process explanation, and present a proposal whose confidence matches its evidence.
